WHO IS THIS COURSE FOR?
This course is intended for doctors who are aiming to sit the MRCOG Part 2 examinations of the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists and who wish to have practical experience of the Oral (OSCE – Objective Structured Clinical Examination) component of this.
The number of participants is strictly limited to 20 per day.
You can book for one of the days or for both.
WHAT WILL THIS COURSE OFFER YOU?
We shall be running two full days, with a total of four circuits of different stations, covering the full range of types of questions. These include stations involving clinical history taking, breaking bad news, talking to bereaved patients and those who have suffered a clinical mishap, explaining procedures to patients for informed consent, responding to patients who have information from the internet, demonstrating appropriate compliance with confidentiality, teaching practical procedures to junior trainees, discussing pre-operative preparations, prioritisation of emergency and labour ward patients, clinical audit, clinical risk management,
response to emergency scenarios, the use of surgical instruments and an understanding of histopathology.
Each circuit will have 10 stations of 15 minutes each, with time for feedback from your examiner and role player after each station. There is also a longer feedback session at the end of each day. The physical arrangement of the circuits and venue provides a realistic mimic of the real exam conditions. Our role players are all professional actors who will come from the United Kingdom specifically for this course. They have considerable experience of role play work in medical exams, and their feedback and advice to you will be particularly helpful.
