DRCOG MCQ AND EMQ EXAM PREPARATION COURSE
Who this course is for
Anyone intending
to sit the DRCOG examination who is
wanting total immersion in the style and conditions of the
examination ("true/false" and “best-of-five” MCQ's and Extended Matching Questions (EMQ's)), including experience of their defects and irritations!
You should have already undertaken a significant part of
the postgraduate clinical experience and training relevant
to the DRCOG. You should have already made a start on your
preparation for the examination itself, with some revision
of all aspects of the examination syllabus.
What will this course offer you
A week of intenstive practice at DRCOG style “true/false” and "best-of-five" Multiple Choice Questions and Extended Matching Questions (EMQ's). The question material is drawn up
by Miss Susan Tuck, an experienced RCOG examiner, and mimics
the formats and content of the actual DRCOG examinations.
This will be presented to you in the time-frame and environment
which you will face in the examination itself, but with interruptions
for discussion on the "correct" answers and expected performance
at intervals during each session. The idea is to enable you to become familiar with the type and content
of the three examination components, to learn how to interpret the
questions and anticipate the likely pre-set marking schemes involved,
and thus to present your knowledge and skills optimally on the
examination day itself..
This course has been changed to reflect the new format of the DRCOG exam i.e. no longer including OSCE circuits, but introducing EMQ's and “best-of-five” MCQ's, which takes effect from the sitting of October 2007 onwards.
During the course of the week, you will also be able to
judge what areas of the syllabus you need to focus on yourself
in the remainder of your own further preparations for the
DRCOG examination.
Who is the course not appropriate for
Anyone wanting a week of lectures on Obstetrics
and Gynaecology. Anyone looking for a general discussion
of women's health care in General Practice. Anyone who has
had no clinical experience or learning in postgraduate Obstetrics
and Gynaecology and is needing to start their examination
preparation from scratch.
