Communication Skills Workshops
Lead by experienced communication trainers
Communication skills are a key component of the OSCE examinations.
These workshops help you to develop and practice effective listening and dialogue
techniques.
The workshops include exercises to develop your abilities in:
- Understanding body language messages
- Articulation, breath control, volume, pitch and tone of your voice
- Controlled response techniques
- Observation and awareness development
- Time management techniques for effective communication
- Question delivery and response analysis
The aim of the workshops is to reinforce general as well as specific communication
skills, giving participants confidence in consultation situations.
Make sure that you do not waste time and cause a negative response by inadequate
listening and poor observation. Aim at discussion and dialogue, whilst avoiding lecturing.
Clarity of speech is vital in dialogue. The pitch and pace of your speech
need to be appropriate to the situation.
Most "communication" stations in the exam allocate specific marks for an "appropriate
introduction". A sincere, clear start will help set the parameters of the meeting.
Effective listening techniques and an awareness of non-verbal communication
signals are important techniques facilitating information exchange.
The sessions also help you to learn effective schedule management for the time
constraints relevant to the exam.
These workshops are designed to be applicable to those who do and do not have
English as their first language.
